Position Summary:

This position manages the regional Purchasing Team for the Americas Region of TI Fluid Systems. This includes Direct Material purchasing (DM) and Non-Production Purchasing (NPP). The position is responsible to use effective processes, procedures, and initiatives to achieve the cost reduction targets and source new projects competitively meeting TIFS cost, quality, and performance targets of all our facilities. This position will report dotted line to the Vice President of Purchasing.

  1. Develops and administers programs continuously to reduce material cost year over year, improve supplier performance related to quality, inventory reduction and parts/service availability.
  2. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement Direct Materials and NPP goods and services.
  3. Prepares purchase forecasts, cost reduction plans and expense budgets that meet and/or exceed requirements.
  4. Continually monitors price variations taking advantage of lower costs and developing alternatives/actions when cost increases become apparent.
  5. Vigorously drives an effective cost reduction program throughout all direct and indirect material purchasing activities and imparts cost savings philosophy and mentality to entire Purchasing staff.
  6. Generates meaningful and timely communications related to direct material purchasing activity ensuring issues are brought into sharp focus, identifies areas for potential cost reductions, provides gauge of progress and enables management and others to measure quality of service.
  7. Oversees and participates in areas of vendor negotiations and selection assuring a fair and equitable distribution consistent with Company policies, cost, quality, delivery service and customer requirements.
  8. Collaborates with all regional Purchasing leaders and contributes to the formulation and execution of global/regional commodity strategies.
  9. Identifies commodity sourcing opportunities and oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
  10. Utilize purchasing systems and procedures to conduct the sourcing function and evaluate vendor quotations leveraging appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
  11. Reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
  12. Lead the regional Purchasing organization in support of the annual operating plan, as well as contribute to the development, monitoring and achievement of annual targets.
  13. Designs, implements, manages, and monitors weekly and monthly reporting systems.
  14. Manage resources to recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high quality products and services at best cost while maintaining full compliance to the Company code of ethics and conduct.
  15. Is available to work all hours necessary and travel domestically and internationally as needed to accomplish assigned tasks.

  4. Specialized knowledge of procurement and negotiations.

  6. Must have the ability to work autonomously as well as work in a team environment.
  7. Collaborative team player with strong communication and people skills to generate high rapport levels with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  8. Able to excel in time management and able to work under pressure from internal and external sources.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or equivalent; MBA degree preferred.
  2. Knowledge of key spend categories (metals, plastics, assemblies, and logistics).
  3. Strong experience as production purchasing leader, to include negotiations, strategies, price analysis, etc., with strategic as well as tactical/”hands-on” abilities.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively within a global matrix organization.

Licensing or Special Certification Requirements:

  1. Valid drivers’ license and passport.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time.
  2. Ability to travel up to 25%, domestic and international.

Working Conditions:

  1. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 10 pounds.
  2. Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting and bending.
