Position Summary:
The Group Accountant is responsible for the preparation of quarterly and annual reports under IFRS, ensuring compliance with IFRS accounting standards and to ensure internal reporting on IFRS basis is consistently applied. The role will report to the Group Chief Accountant, based in Oxford, and will work closely with the Tax, Finance Systems & Analysis, Legal, Treasury, and IT teams also based in Oxford.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Assist in timely, accurate and complete preparation of Interim and Annual consolidated audited financial statements under IFRS for a complex international group of companies, c€3bn Revenue, operating in 28 territories.
- Help address technical accounting challenges; ensure compliance with IFRS and company procedures.
- May be involved in management of staff, either directly as line manager or indirectly for specific projects or tasks.
- Review, investigate and correct errors, inconsistencies and unusual items in subsidiary financial accounting returns.
- Remains aware of current accounting developments.
- Assist in reviewing the Group Finance and Accounting Policies and liaison with external auditors.
Skill Requirements:
- Experience of preparing a full set of IFRS Group statutory accounts, with broad experience, it would be beneficial to have specific experience of Functional Currency, pensions, foreign exchange, cash flows and share based expenses.
- Experience in preparing single entity accounts under IFRS.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge(IFRS).
- Experience with manufacturing related accounting issues / operational finance in an international environment.
- Automotive or manufacturing industry background an advantage.
- Independent worker and self-starter in terms of learning, probing and gaining understanding of processes.
Experience Requirements:
- An active qualified accountant with previous employment at a Big Four accounting firm preferred.
- Previous industry experience, ideally with a Plc.
- Strong computer and accounting software skills (MS Excel and PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Good presentation and communication skills.
- Good planning, organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Used to working to strict deadlines.
Licensing or Special Certification Requirements:
- Valid driver's license.
- Passport.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time.
- Some international travel may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Occasionally lifts and carries up to 10 pounds.
- Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
- Works within an automotive components manufacturing office setting and may be exposed to heat, cold and fumes/chemicals.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
