Position Summary:
The Buyer I will be responsible for supporting a range of commodities/components dependent upon experience. Duties include working with current suppliers and evaluating new suppliers for assigned commodities (typically metallic and plastics).
Responsibilities of Position:
- Meet cost savings targets for assigned commodities.
- Assist in Developing and implementing commodity strategies for assigned commodities.
- Evaluate, develop and maintain a supply base to support assigned Commodities. This includes local and Global Suppliers for included commodities.
- Follow the sourcing-process for production parts and major capital equipment in cooperation with the engineering group, to meet cost, quality, and technology requirements.
- Implement existing global purchasing procedures.
- Assist global commodity teams for assigned commodities (working with EU, LA and AP leads).
- Will act as Purchasing liaison with other departments and manufacturing locations.
- Meet assigned Goals & Objectives.
- Support Purchasing initiatives and development activities.
Skill Requirements:
- Strong negotiating skills are required.
- Experience working in a fast paced Tier 1 automotive supplier environment.
- Experience working in a TS-16949 environment.
- Self-directed with a high degree of self- motivation.
- Proficient computer skills and abilities with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Accountability.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required.
- 1-3 years buying experience in the automotive arena.
- Experience evaluating and auditing suppliers.
Licensing or Special Certification Requirements:
- Valid passport and driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability and willingness to travel and support global audios.

The Buyer I, Stamping will support the fulfillment of this mission via the Purchasing responsibilities for their assigned categories of components and/or raw materials.Primary Responsibilities:· Ensure assigned components are sourced on-time at best total cost and meet program requirements.· Drive and achieve year-over-year quality improvement targets for assigned commodities.· Meet cost savings targets for assigned commodities, including on-time implementation of cost savings actions such as commercial negotiations, VA/VE, and supplier resourcing.· Mitigate negative cost effects related to commodity (i.e. tariffs, raw materials, etc.).· Assist in developing and implementing commodity strategies for assigned commodities.· Duties include working with current local and global suppliers and evaluating new suppliers.· Implement existing global purchasing procedures.· Act as the Purchasing liaison with other departments and manufacturing locations.· Meet Supply Requirements - ensure uninterrupted supply of assigned commodities to Company plants and external customer by extension: right part at the right time at the right quantity.Qualifications and Skill Requirements:· 1-3 years of automotive industry direct materials purchasing experience.· Strong negotiations capabilities.· Demonstrated commitment to Quality and continuous improvement.· Self-confidence and predisposition to action, sense of urgency to deliver against defined targets.· Must have the ability to work autonomously as well as work in a team environment.· Collaborative team player with strong communication and people skills.· Must be self-motivated, well organized, have a pre-disposition to action.· Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, tooling specifications and technical standards.· Demonstrated knowledge of automotive product validation processes and documentation, supplier development and sourcing in a manufacturing environment.· Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or equivalent from an AACSB accredited program.· Solid understanding and practical use of MS Office Suite, PowerBI, Mainframe Systems and Web Based Procurement Systems.Highly Desired Skills:· Global Automotive T1 Supplier or OEM procurement experience· MBA / Master's degree and knowledge of incorporating data analytics into purchasing activitiesTravel Requirements:· Position is based in Auburn Hills, MI Corporate Offices or in San Luis Potosi, Mexico· Willingness for some travel to suppliers and TI manufacturing sites· Able to travel domestically and internationally as neededEEO Statement:TI Fluid Systems is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, pregnancy status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
