Position Summary:

Supervises assigned staff in the posting and balancing of accounts, preparation of income sheets, balance sheets, purchasing registers, general ledgers and cash book.


Responsibilities of Position:

1. Supervises, coordinates, provides leadership, schedules work and reviews work of assigned staff.

2. Plans day-to-day departmental operations, develops departmental work methods, authorizes overtime and monitors performance to budget.

3. Acts as liaison to other departments.

4. Applies policies and ensures consistent application of standards.

5. Evaluates methods, policies, procedures and practices and recommends changes or adjustments as appropriate.

6. Performs such individual assignments as the supervisor may direct; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

7. Performs those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including provision for the selection and development of employees, pay administration, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed within the department and ensures adequate and continuous control is exercised over the activities affecting quality.

8. May lead and direct the work of others.

9. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

10. Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.


Skill Requirements:

1. Regular and predictable attendance.

2. Performs those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department.

3. Supervises, coordinates, provides leadership, schedules work and reviews work of assigned staff.

4. Plans day-to-day departmental operations, develops departmental work methods, authorizes overtime and monitors performance to budget.

5. Acts as liaison to other departments.

6. Applies policies and ensures consistent application of standards.

7. Evaluates methods, policies, procedures and practices and recommends changes or adjustments as appropriate.

8. Self-directed with a high degree of self- motivation.

9. Proficient computer skills and abilities with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).

10. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

11. Some lead or supervisory experience.

12. Has functioned in the role of a Senior Accountant for at least 3 years prior to assignment as a supervisor.


Experience Requirements:

1. Knowledge and experienced of the type and to the degree obtained by completion of both a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or general business.


Licensing or Special Certification Requirements:

1. Valid driver's license.

2. CPA


Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time.

2. May travel to plant and customer sites.


Working Conditions:

1. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 15 pounds.

2. Works at telephone answering equipment and at a PC for hours at a time.

3. Works within a automotive components manufacturing office setting and is occasionally exposed to heat, cold wet, and fumes/chemicals.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or general business and possesses a CPA.
